How this test is made

Any service that sells a report owes you three answers: who makes it, how it works, and where it stops. This page is those answers.

Who makes this

MyEnergyType is built and run by FLOWLAB, a one-person studio in Seoul. The research, the questions, the writing, and the code are all one person's responsibility — so no sentence here hides behind anonymity. Questions are always welcome at [email protected].

How it's designed

The test is 40 questions on a five-point scale — ten for each of the four temperaments (Expressive, Driven, Reflective, Steady). Instead of abstract personality statements, the questions ask about concrete behavior in four scenes of life: among people, when things get moving, time alone, and in your relationships.

Your highest-scoring temperament (primary) combines with your second (secondary) to give one of twelve types. Two people who share a primary can carry very different energy depending on what comes second — that's why the pairing matters.

What it measures — and what it doesn't

This is not a clinical diagnostic tool, and it does not measure the whole of who you are. It measures one thing: the pattern of where your energy fills up and where it leaks.

A type is not a box to put you in; it's a lens to start observing yourself with. If your result feels wrong somewhere, trust that feeling — you are always bigger than your type.

An honest relationship with Hippocrates

This test's roots go back 2,500 years to Hippocrates' observation of four temperaments. By today's science, the four-humors theory doesn't hold. But the observation at its heart — that people are born with different response patterns — was exactly right. We chose not to sell the theory as authority, and instead to retell that observation in modern language.

The theory was created by Hippocrates 2,500 years ago, and our retelling of it lives in the two articles below. The 40 questions and the twelve type readings of this test were written by FLOWLAB, using that material as the standard.
